Unfortunately it seems like business as usual in Washington. Very sad.

But are you telling us that you don’t believe the previous administration used tactics like this? Worse that this? C’mon!

Meh. I’d say you’re better off sticking to the baseball stuff Curt. Republicans and Democrats both live in glass houses.

I agreee that intimidation techniques are lousy business. But EVERY administration uses them and every one will. McCain would have too. The belief is that the end justifies the means which we, as Christians, know is false.

BTW, Youve been noticeably silent regarding the fact that David Ortiz lied outright to the media adn the fans the other night when he claimed to have been unaware that he had tested positive in 2003.

Donald Ferh told Congress that all 104 players had been told, as well they should have been. After all, it is part of the union’s job to inform and protect players as best they can.

I can accept that Ortiz did the PEDs. Hey, there were a lot of folks doing it and he was fighting for a starting job and there was no punishment in place at the time.

But lying about it says bad things about the man’s integrity. It’s easy to be a “hero” when things are going great. But you find out the true heart of a man during a crisis.

I know he was a teammate but you cannot condone the lying.

Stop whining and pay your taxes! Knucklehead republicans like Kyl, and Bush screwed up this country beyond all recognition. It’s time for the Dems to take off the gloves and turn this country 180 degrees from the Republican abyss. Health care now! Jobs now! Right on Rahmn

Yawn. Do you really think this is anything new? Do you honestly believe that Bush/Cheney never engaged in strong arm techniques?

I am chairman of the Reagan Republicans’ Victory Fund in Concord, NH. I believe we all need to be pro-active if we are ever to turn things around in Washington. I would like 5 minutes of your time to tell you about an idea I have for next year. Please contact me by email or my office phone:

Meet the new boss, same as the old boss. To complain about these tactics after the stuff that went on under your favorite administration comes off as some serious sour grapes.

Yes Curt, I’m shocked that the democrats act just like the Republicans did during Bush’s two terms. It’s almost as shocking as learning about how your team cheated in 04 and 07 even though you claimed innocent during those years and attacked everyone else.

Ahhh man, now there’s gonna be another O’Bama speech on TV…he’ll have something to say about this. I truly believe the man watches tabloid shows instead of news networks. This is really gonna be a hell-of-a four years we’re gonna experience; I just hope I still have a job and roof over my head when he’s done.

I love how people who criticize others for playing ‘victim’ politics are so adept at it themselves.

Kyl criticized the stimulus on TV, and the administration had the temerity, the gall, to write him some letters!

The reign of terror has begun.

If Republicans had only been so easily intimidated from 2000-8…

Hey Curt try to understand this-they all do it-but funny how you bring it up now because you are a Republican. Wow political commentary after you can’t even keep your stories straight on something you have extensive knowledge of-steroids. Your flip-flopping comments on steroids sound like you would make an excellent politician-after all you seem to lack a backbone-witness your act in front of Congress years after you had claimed to have problems patting your teammates on the ass because thats where they inject the steroids-suddenly one of the most outspoken players had amnesia just like the rest except for Jose Canseco. Maybe you should rename your site 38 viewpoints-and all of them hypocritical, self-serving and short-sighted.

Curt, it is really despicable behavior. Obama has greatly disappointed as a president so far. Kyl, made a great point. If it is not working, which one could easily say it isn’t then why go through with it. At the time of Kyl’s comments I believe 90% of the funds were unspent. Seems prudent to me, to not spend that money and reduce the federal deficit. But that would make too much sense. What is even worse then this is the fact that 75% of the country want to audit the federal reserve, because nobody has any clue what they are doing with the country’s money and the technocrats have blocked this from coming to the floor even though over half of the house has sponsored the bill including 100% of republicans. The democrats always claim that they are the party for the little guy. Their actions don’t back up their words when as they care more about the government machine and bankers then they do the american public. By letting the fed do whatever they want and keep their actions’s secret as far as how they spend the the country’s money, they make it abundantly clear whose interest they represent. There are some good ones like Alan Grayson from Florida though. Of course if they actually have accountability, then they lose their independence. What a load of BS. And can somebody please explain to me how a health care reform is going to save the country money, but according to the financial experts for the administration, needs taxes to be raised? Just some simple logic, would indicate that the proposed overhaul costs more if you need a tax increase to fund it.

Beautiful…..the immediate retort from the “hope and change” cheerleaders is “hey, it’s no different than the other guys!”.

The end (getting stuff paid for by someone else) always justifies the means.

  15. August 5, 2009 1:47 pm

One has to wonder how a loudmouth like Curt Schilling spent several years in a Red Sox clubhouse that was apparently full of steroids, as well as played with a lot of now known steroid users while on other teams throughout his career… yet Curt Schilling never saw anything.

I don’t need a reply, I’ll just let your conscience eat you alive on that one.

Wow, after reading these comments, especially the ones that hit soon after your post, I feel a sense of similar “timing, structure, and content of each [comment].” Makes me scratch my head about who is actually reading this blog and what their purpose is… o.O

The basic fact is that Chicago politics – some of the most brutal anywhere – is the result of backroom tactics that makes public service so dirty. Let’s call it what it is. Making the public aware of how the current administation’s results-at-all-costs will leave a nasty taste in the mouth.

Let’s air the laundry. Public knowledge is good for EVERYONE.

I Am not sure I get what your problem is with this curt???

For one thing the previous administration, your good pal Georgie did far worse intimidation under the Karl Rove school of Politics…. Pot meet kettle…..

Second, what is so wrong with writing a letter asking for the money back?? They rip the stimulus policy apart on the news shows, and then tell their constituents how good they are for getting them this money… Talk about two faced politicians, trying to work both angles…

If you don’t support the policy, why are they so eager to get the money for their states??? IF they truly do not support the stimulus bill, man up and offer the money back… now that would be a true statement against the bill, not some lip service.. Talk is cheap, if you can talk the talk you better walk the walk. But it is typical business as usual politics, they would never DARE give the money back, because they know their constituents would KILL them…

And on a side note I am shocked you have not blogged and joined the Birther Movement….. get on that curt…

I was a supporter of Obama, but now i refer to him as Obushma.

I am not surprised by anything. Politics in this country are ridiculous and a dog and pony show to disguise the fact that it isn’t “Lib” vs “Con” anymore, but “Rich” and “Not rich”.

Wait — so the administration chief of staff might have coordinated with other people in the administration to send letters that had similar content???

OMG — that’s some scary, scary stuff. Way scarier that warrantless wiretapping (in violation of the US Constitution), uisng phony intelligence to justify a war, and firing federal prosecutors b/c they won’t go after your political opponents (i.e., US Atty in New Mexico).

Curt, you become more and more of a joke everyday. I would say “stick to baseball” but your ‘thoughts’ on that topic (esp. steroids and the 2004 Red Sox) are even more idiotic.

Hey Babe Ruth, how about all of those Yankee WS championships with juicers like Roger Clemens on the team? The whole freaking SPORT is tainted you arrogant ass, not just one team.

I think Obama’s tactics are nothing new in Washington, but they are especially surprising considering that he promised that we were entering a new era, that “politics as usual” was going to cease, and that there will be a new age of transparency and trust.

Democrats always love to point to the Bush administration, but Obama is president now, so it’s pointless to keep looking back to Bush every time Obama screws up. Obama makes a mistake, then all of his apologists say “Oh, but he’s at least better than Bush!”

Obama promised us a new era and it’s just Chicago-style politics as usual. Sad.

We’re not talking about Bush, we’re talking about Obama and his new era of transparency in Washington. Where is all of this unity that was promised? Where’s this new, enlightened way of doing things? Stimulus bills that no one has read? 1,200-page healthcare bills that no one can understand?

And Babe Ruth, you’re just a Yankee fan that can’t stand that his team has spent more money than the GDP of most developing nations and still can’t win the championship. Your arguments are tired and idiotic. There isn’t a single team in baseball that has won the World Series in the past 20 years that hasn’t had a player on it that was using PEDs. So why not go see a doctor about your case of cranial-rectal inversion which seems to be congenital in Yankees fans.

Lugh, You’re the hypocritical Roid Sox fan. A few months ago, you claimed no one used on the Roid Sox.. Now it’s every team has users. lol.

Roid Sox? How long did it take you to come up with that one? I bet you stayed up all night trying to think of a zinger but still fell short (kind of like the Yankees in the playoffs).

Anyway, I don’t think anyone is under the illusion that no members of the Red Sox ever used PEDs. I certainly never have been. There have undoubtedly been users on every team, including the Yankees (Giambi, Pettite, A-Roid, Clemens), so I don’t know where this self-righteousness is coming from. The whole game is tainted, not just the Sox, not just the Yankees, but everyone.

  31. Babe Ruth permalink
    August 9, 2009 7:43 pm

The whole game is not tainted. Just your championships.

Who on the 2004 Cardinals and 2007 Rockies were tainted?

What am I missing here – if you go on TV and publicly state that the stimulus is a bad idea, why are you takin the stimulus $$$? That is what the letters are asking – do you want the money? Of course the answer was yes. I’m not saying the letters are a good idea – but really, aren’t they just calling them on their hypocrisy? It must be great to criticize the stimulus AND cash the stimulus checks!

    Hey,Babe Ruth,
Being the idiot that you are, you’re insulting the Babe’s memory by using his name. Also, this obviously escaped your attention, but Ortiz and Ramirez tested positive in 2003.There is no evidence at all (so far) that anyone on the 2004 or 2007 Red Sox tested positive for PED’s.Now, if you are personally in possession of concrete evidence to the contrary, why don’t you bring it forward or shut up.
