Congrats you little #@!$!

November 18, 2008

Congratulations to Dustin Pedroia, the 2008 American League MVP.

I met Petey 3 years ago while on rehab in Pawtucket and I can assure you the guy you see in Boston is the same red ass ‘kick your teeth in no matter how big you are, or how hard you throw’ guy he was there.

he respects the game, his teammates and he plays the game hard, he plays the game right and there isn’t a pitcher on the planet that he thinks can get him out.

I’d relate a ton of stories but there isn’t one I can tell that doesn’t contain multiple four letter expletives about himself, or the guy that got him out (on the rare occasion that would happen).

He earned this and we’re proud as hell to call him a teammate and a friend.

Curt, I’m hoping to get ahold of you so that I can provide the Red Sox clubhouse with a trophy for it’s fantasy football league. I read an article this year in the NY Times talking about how Johnny Damon once traded a player to Terry Francona so that it would screw you over in order to keep you away from winning the title. It also mentioned the popularity of fantasy football in pro clubhouses. I think the trophies I hand sculpt would truly fit into the Red Sox family of players. You’d see what I mean if you check them out at FantasyTrophies. com Anyway, please get in touch with me through my site if you can.

The Destroy-ah earned it! He was the glue that held this team together this year. Hopefully this year was the beginning of a LONG career in Bean town!

    I’m 5’7″ (on a good day).

Pedroia the Destroya is my HERO!

As not only a big Red Sox fan, but a baseball fan in general, it is so much fun watching Dustin Pedroia play. For the size of guy that he is and as much will as he has, he really is an inspiration. Such a hard-nosed player and goes all-out, all the time. I love it. I wish more players had his mentality.

I stood next to Pedroia the night we clinched the ALCS last year – at Game On. I am 5′ 2″ and I wonder if Petey is really 5′ 7″. LOL! I barely had to look up to him. So, here’s to the kid who was too short to play MLB! REPRESENT THE SHORT PEOPLE OF THE WORLD, PETEY! ; )

Wow, a GG, SS, and MVP added to his RoY last year is a pretty damned impressive haul for the kid. I’d be interested to hear his thoughts. Haven’t had a chance to do much at all today, so am now going to do some reading and see if he had anything to say.

    Congratulations, Petey!

Hope the rehab is going well.

Congrats to the best 2nd baseman that we’ve had in years. Dustin is one of my favorite players to watch and pull for, for his attitude alone!!!

Congratulations, Dustin and many more to come.

He was awesome this year. Well deserved.
I would say the same if Youkie got it. We’re so lucky to have them both.

I saw Dustin play a few years ago for the SaraSox. You could just tell the Sox chose wisely.

I have a feeling Pedroia won’t be taking a few days off during the All Star Vreak for many more years to come.

Curt, how do you get along with Ruben Amaro? If well, get your butt back to Philly next year. Go out a super hero. You need that 4th ring for your youngest child. Plenty of room on the Phils’ Wall of Fame.

Congrats Pedey, “you sawed off little shot gun” as I always call you. This is great incentive for kids like my 14 yr old son, who is a REALLY good little shortstop/2nd basemen, and who is only 5ft tall and 85 lbs, to work hard and you can compete with the big guys…….

Thanks for the Pedroia appreciation. Hope you’re doing well.

We’re very luck to have Dustin and Kevin. Next year, MVP and another gold glove for Youk, championship rings for the team and another trophy for all of Red Sox Nation.

Great showing by both Pedroia and Youk in the MVP vote. We really are fortunate to have such hardcore players in our lineup.

He was a sure winner as far as I was concerned with Youk right behind him. I love watching Pedey play, always exciting! In your EEI blog you mentioned “baseball lifers” I’ve never heard that term. What does that mean?

Congrats Pedey, you deserved it and the Nation is proud of you!

    PS Happy belated birthday, Curt!

We love Petey almost as much as we love you, ya big lug!

No way that Shank ever thought Petey would amount to a hill of beans, and now Petey is at the pinnacle of his sport.

Even you never won an MVP, right, Kurt? Wow.

    May God bless you, Kurt.

Curt, couldn’t find an e-mail link on your site, so I’m planting this here in hopes that you’ll see it. I thought you might be interested in this website about a guy from my neighborhood who’s hiking the Appalachian Trail to raise money for ALS. He’s almost done. FYI …

    Pedroia. MVP of the AL.

    Wow. Wow.

    Papi hasn’t even won that.

    What a year.

Long time Yankees fan and sox “fan” hater. I must say Pedroia and Youkalis are two great players that scare the heck out me. They resemble the kind of guys we (yankees) had in the 90s winning all those games. If you do return how you gonna feel if Manny takes you deep in whatever stadium your playing in?

  20. November 21, 2008 7:16 pm

He’s all heart, you can see it in everything he does.
There’s a lot of guys on this team like that, but he’s a real “dirt dog” isn’t he? 🙂
