What a game, quick holiday?

November 26, 2007

Had a chance to take my oldest son to see the Pats/Eagles game last night. What a game. I am a pretty big Andy Reid fan. I had a chance to briefly meet him while in Philadelphia and watch him coach in that city for a few years. I’ve always respected his approach and thought he was an exceptional x’s and o’s guy who many times had his team playing beyond it’s capability be it injured players or a short roster.

I thought he did as good a job as any coach in the NFL last night. That being said the greatest team I’ve ever seen won again. I would imagine there will be no shortage of f’bombs or sweat this week in Pats practices but I just can’t get over watching this team play. I am and always will be a dyed in the wool Steeler fan. My 4 years here has made me a pretty big fan of the franchise playing in foxborough.

When anyone talks greatest team ever my first defense is the mid to late 70s Steelers who, it seems, has their entire rosters in the HOF. This team trumps that and any other team I’ve ever seen. In a day and age of TOTAL parity in the NFL, where everyone has to play by the same rules, the Pats have done the unthinkable.

Take ‘camera gate’ and place it where the sun doesn’t shine, using that as a basis for any discussion on why this team is what it is means you’re nothing more than a Bellicheck/Pats/Kraft hater with minimal football knowledge.

This team, in the day and age of every possible tool available to prepare, has decided that on any given day they’ll be exactly what they choose to be offensively, and there’s nothing you can do about it. They ran the ball like 10 times last night. No huddle shotgun with 4 wide outs from the first snap. It’s almost as if they, and they may be, they say ok we are going 4-5 wide, we are going to throw 40+ times today and our QB, our wide outs, our line, our game plan, is so far beyond anything you can defend we’ll even give you an extra shot, we wont punt. (And a special thanks to all my special teammates who text messaged me after seeing me on SNF, the food jokes ran rampant but the message of the night belongs to our astute GM who said “Hey Schill, hope that popcorn is worth 2 million”….) Great guys.

Unreal to watch.

Thanksgiving was great, if not fast. Had the usual dinner at the in-laws with all the trimmings. Friday was Shonda’s 40th birthday and we got a chance to spend the night with friends hanging out at a local Medfield diner called Noon Hill.

Sunday the family was invited to participate in the Annuall Quincy Holiday Parade. Turned out to be a huge event that caught us a bit off guard. We thought we were headed to a small town thing with a chance to say thanks to some local Sox fans, and it turned out to be a 2 hour + event attended by over 200k people.

One of the coolest aspects of being here, being part of this organization and this family, are things like that. 200k + people at a parade and for 2 hours the motorcycle officers of the local and state police who were escorting us got as many hellos as we did, very cool stuff. We’d ride by a throng of people and it would go something like this “Hey Schill  ONE MORE YEAR! WOO HOO! Hey Bob how’s Jody? Hey Mike see you this weekend? Hey Dave how are the kids? Tell Mom we said hello!”, the entire parade. EVERYONE knows everyone here.

Thanks again to the town of Quincy for the invitation, our kids loved the experience.

it`t funny. how” jd”, never likes to admit, all the success the yankees have had through the years. how he always says 2 to o. with the redsox, could it be he`s showing his true right full age of 3? maybe if he could, read, count, spell, and write, he would admit that he’s the real crying child to thee.

One would think when the Our Crying Child creates “sockpuppets” he would at least try to hide it better.

    FAIL!

    Sorry to make him cry.

Hey, guy, if you are going to have a sockpuppet, try making at least a half-hearted effort to disguise your, ah, “writing style.”

Bottom line is, having another account in an attempt to lend more credibility to your argument is only going to make you look even more foolish, particularly when it writes like a fool! Why not stop before digging yourself deeper?

    dear akairyu1,

if i wanted to take my time, i could type a lot better, but who cares. this is suppose to be fun, jd made it ugly.you type alot like him also, those other comments, our not from me. he dosen’t want any yankee fans, leaving any comments. we have the right to leave comments here as much as redsox fans.if you read his comments. you’ll see he keeps saying the yankees haven’t won anything. you think that he would lighten up, a bit. hey. i was happy when the redsox won in 04. i wasn’t jealous about anything.some of my best friends our redsox fans, we respect each other, not look for nasty things to say, about each others team. i never once said anything personal about him.as you read, he threw alot of stones at me.you have to admit, the redsox are winning ws now, because ther doing some of the things the yanks have done, through years(spending money trading young talent). keep it up, and you guys will be THE EVIL EMPIRE. :). i kinda like being the underdog, now.the yankees aren’t used to this situation, maybe it will change things…………best wishes

    Our Crying Child prevaricates:

“if [Sic–Ed.] i [Sic–Ed.] wanted to take my time, i [Sic–Ed.] could type a lot better, but who cares. [Sic–Ed.]”

Gather he does not care that he behaves the fool. Well, every village needs an idiot, so we have him.

“this [Sic–Ed.] is suppose to be fun, jd [Sic–Ed.] made it ugly.you[Sic–Ed.]. . . .”

    “Let us review the catechism!”

    1. Our Crying Child came on hurling nearly incomprehensible claims and insults.
    2. Said Child received correction of both.
    3. In increasingly deteriorating screed, Our Crying Child throws multiple temper-tantrums.
    4. Child receives a spanking.

Our Crying Child has only himself to blame for his plight.

    “. . . type alot [Sic–Ed.] like him also, . . .”

As in, “with proper English, grammar, punctuation, capitalization, vocabulary, not using fists, et cetera.”

“he [Sic–Ed.] dosen’t [Sic–Ed.] want any yankee [Sic–Ed.] fans, leaving any comments.”

    LIE

As explained to him in terms that the ape creatures of the Indus have mastered, a number of good MFY fans post.

He is not one of them.

Blathers on into a confession of faith, protest of “injur’d merit,” and other elements characteristic of a Drama Queen.

The Lady doth protest too much, methinks. . . .

Behave as a child, be disciplined as such. Behave as an adult, earn the respect of adults.

    Not terribly complicated.

I consider it noblesse oblige to educate even a spoiled Crying Child–to assist him with such complex entities as “punctuation,” “capitalization,” “spelling,” “grammar,” and “Advance Counting.”
