The dog days are behind us and we enter the stretch run. The Yanks, as we all suspected, didn’t and won’t go away. The kid twirls a no no and the rest of the kids contributed yesterday to another big win. There are a few questions posed earlier I am planning to answer this week. I was going to tackle the one asked about forming a team with one player from each team in the A.L. as well as put down my thoughts on the coolest things in the game this year, from Mr Hamiltons rebound in life and baseball to Jon Lesters awesome bounce back from cancer. Love to hear what others think are the best stories in baseball this year.
Has there been a better time to be a Sox fan in the past 20 years? You’ve got a few older guys mixed in with an incredibly talented core group of younger studs like Beckett, Dice K, Pedroia, Youk, Pap, DelCarmen and some of the brightest young prospects in baseball already contributing to a pennant race in Bucholz, Lester, Ellsbury, Moss and a few more. This team has the pieces to win a world series right now and the core team in place to be a force for the next 5-10 years. Considering how bad this farm system was thought to be even 3-4 years ago, that’s a pretty huge leap forward. In a division where the top two teams have payrolls nearing 400 million, the thought that this division could be decided by a group of kids in Boston and NY that are all under 25 years old is pretty amazing.
Oh and we are trying to keep tabs on how many times our folicly challenged friend CHB uses the word “Blowhard” in reference to me. The over under on the season is 100 and I think she’s bypassed that already.
