38 Studios heads to the middle east

November 10, 2008

38 Studios heads to the middle east, originally uploaded by gehrig38.

A small gift for the men and women serving in the Middle East from the folks here at 38. I hope to be able to hand them all out while visiting. We’ll be selling these when I get back. We’ll be organizing a program to have portions of the proceeds donated to families of fallen soldiers. Details will be forthcoming. Check it out here

Very nice! My husband is heading over there for a 365-deployment; too bad he’s not there now as I’m sure he would have enjoyed the chance to meet you and get one of these! He’s a WoW player :)

Please wish him God Speed and Blessings from our family. No worries, I’ll hold onto a few for him when he returns! Maybe I’ll see him over there?

You are absolutely amazing with all you do. I just drove out to see you at the statue dedication in Cooperstown and so wished that you could have stayed for Voices of the Game. It was wonderful.

My husband is deploying in Feb, so a few more months before he leaves. When are you planning your visit over there? When he was deployed last year he was able to (very briefly) meet Lance Armstrong and Robin Williams when they were there with a USO tour. I think it’s wonderful that celebrities make time to go on these tours visiting the deployed troops!

That’s fantastic — you know it means so much to them to have you donate your time to travel all that way and help boost their morale. Good on you!

I think this serves as a reminder that we can all do more for our men and women in the armed services. It is a crime in my opinion that these men and women come back from fighting for us and are struggling to make ends meet if they are lucky enough to come back. They should be exalted, yet our government and fellow citizens show them little to no respect for all they have done.
It is time for us to stop waiting on everyone else to take up the mantle for creating a warrior class and do it ourselves. If all you do is buy a t-shirt, you help. If you send a care package, you help. If you give to USA Cares, you help. If you give to the DAV, you help. There are so many ways to help, and even in these tough times the highest amount you can give will go further than you can imagine.
If you see a member out in public, shake their hand and thank them. And if you want to take it a step further, buy them a meal. It’s the very least we can do.
So let’s stop giving lip service to our military and really start putting our money where our mouths are.

Curt, while I won’t wear anything with a grenade on it… I would be more than happy to make a donation. If there is a site where we can donate, please let us know. ToofarawayfromBoston

    Mr Schilling,
I hope I get to see you when you head out on your USO tour, I was deployed when the Sox won in 04, and then stationed in AZ in 07. I am currently deployed in Baghdad, Iraq and I look forward to shaking the hand of the man who helped the Red Sox overcome the curse! Thanks you from a greatful soldier and a life long fan of the Red Sox.

Curt, I just heard from a couple guys you might be making your way out to where I am at in Iraq. This week as a matter of fact. I hope you get to stop by the lovely FOB War Eagle, you have a little crew of New England faithfuls here that would love to meet you, we will have our bloody socks ready to be inked. I hope you make it out this way, its been a long year for all of us and I am sure you will help us forget, even for a moment, that we are out here. Enjoy your tour of the middle east, it is an amazing thing you are doing- SPC Jason Miller- Manchester NH
