Curt, I am a new member to this blog and as a matter of fact this is the first time I've ever blogged anything, anywhere, so I apologize if this post is not in the proper place. I am looking for verification (of my memory!) that I read in the paper some time ago, before you joined the Sox, that you once trained in martial arts, and Tang Soo Do specifically. Is that true? where? for how long? still training? or any interest in starting again? The reason I ask is that I often mention it to my students (yes, I have a school down here in CT) and I figured I better check my facts. Thanks for your answer.

Hi Curt!

           I don't know how to spell all the time. As I get older (43) I find myself doubting the spelling of words that I know how to spell and it's frustating as hell. I was in a very bad car wreck in 03 and suffered some major head trauma as well as a broken neck and back. I also suffered some nerve damage on the right side of my body. I feel these factor into my trouble now, but everyone can understand what I'm saying, if not always why I'm saying it. So like the earlier post says, "don't sweat the small stuff". As for politics...when I was younger my liberal friends said that I was ten miles to the right of Attila the Hun. I'm older now and I consider myself a moderate. I always vote, and this country keeps losing more and more jobs to China and Malaysia and that's completely wrong. Wal Mart is responsible for more than 10% of the trade defficit between the U.S. and China and when you realize that the people in this country, and I mean the majority of the population in the U.S. are hard working folks who are losing there jobs to a communist dictatorship who don't treat thier people well. And does wal mart or any other company that moves out of the U.S. to save $$$ on cost of production ever pass that savings on to us? No way. These companies don't respect people, even their own enough to pay us a living wage. And as long as the people allow it to continue, it will. I don't dislike McCain in fact I admire and respect him very much, but the man doesn't make the office, the office makes the man and as long as the office of the President of the U.S. is up for bid to corporate America, than we folks here are in big trouble.Thanks for everything you and your family do and God bless and merry Christmas/happy New year. P.S. A doctor told me after my accident that I would never work again in any real capacity, and that walking will be a problem. Well I'm happy to say that I am walking fine and still doing tree work. I guess we know why some of them are called practising doctors.

   Hi Curt
   I am not much on this blog stuff,but I checked out your site the other day and I am impressed by your forthright writings. I had to log in so I could thank you for doing what you set out to do when you came to Boston. Not once but twice you helped win a title. Thank you for 2004 and 2007 both of which you played a big part of in the playoff's and the regular season.
   I don't pay much mind if you miss a comma or a question mark or what ever as you can see by my writings. Keep up the good work and good luck in the up coming season and beat the Yankees.
   A Red Sox fan even before Bill Buckner

Curt;

Here is what I tell people when they say my spelling and grammar stinks.

"Take a look at one of Hank Williams Lyrics or Mark Twains writings on envelopes." It has quite a few errors in them. But it is till a good piece of work just needs cleaning up a little. As you said you mouth and hand are working fast to stop and correct errors.

Don't worry about what others think. That is their problem.

As for your political view, I like some of the things that Mike Huckabee says but I don't agree with everything that he stands for.

Last time I looked the US Constitution says I have the right to vote for who I want to just like like everyone else does as well. And I respect them for that too.

I have a friend who thinks what Rush Limbuagh(sic) says is gold. I turn Rush off. But I respect my friends right to like Rush.

Ok enough of my soapbox chatting

My two cents regarding the Mitchell report is this: I believe this was the commissioners way of taking the responsibility of doing nothing and putting it on the Feds who will now mandate what the drug policy will be, and the players union will lose it's power regarding this.
