Hiya Curt. Amazing game last night (G2 of the WS). Congrats! Just wanted to relate a story about my dad to you that I think you'll appreciate. My dad's got brain cancer and has been severely weakened by his chemo and radiation. I just moved back to Boston to help out the family after spending the last 8 years in LA. My wife and I got into town on Wednesday and have been looking forward to watching the World Series with my dad ever since you guys clinched the ALCS. We had to rely on phone calls after games in '04. I've never seen my dad cry until you walked off the mound in the fifth. When you tipped your cap to the crowd he couldn't keep it in anymore. Watching you gut out that game filled him with more hope and inspiration than he could keep inside of him. Win or lose, I'm going to remember that for the rest of my life. I know it's just baseball, but it's not just baseball, not all the time anyway. Keep fighting the good fight.

Curt,

It's been a blast watching you over the years. I have never met you but have enjoyed knowing we both pitched for Bill Hatcher at Shadow Mountain. I was class of '81, the group that lost to our nemesis Greenway Demons in the championship game. Sadly, after going 8-0 that year, I took the loss in the championship game after winning the semifinal game the night before. We got close......Which makes watching another Matador kick ass at the highest level of baseball all the more satisfying. You are an amazing pitcher and it gets more enjoyable watching as you age. Throwing hard is one thing...pitching is another. You have mastered the art of pitching.

Give 'em hell in Denver! It's fun to be 6 degrees from a future hall of famer.

You are a tool. Stop downing everyone and everything, and sit back and watch the Sox have this World Series wrapped up by Sunday at midnight. With the lineup the NYY have year after year, my death and dumb grandmother could get them to the big show.

Dear Curt:

I have been a fan since seeing you throw a shutout in 1993 with the phils. luckily my father and i were able to get tickets to that game. Then you came to boston right after i got season tickets in the bleachers (right behind the pen) and I got to enjoy the ride in person 10 years later in 2004. Now, once again we are seeing you and your team make your way through the playoffs. Through it all, I have always admired your ability to handle the pressures, speak your mind all thw while continuing to throw strikes when it counted ...

I gave my wife my ticket for last night, thereby missing what could've been your last game in fenway. I am hoping against hope I get to see you pitch again next year in boston but if not I just wanted to say, from the bottom of my heart, thank you for many many memories, not just my own, but my father's as well.

Go Sox, beat the Rockies !!!

Congratulations, Curt! Watched all of your work tonight, and as the innings progressed, it became obvious that you weren't letting us out of Fenway without a win. You spotted some gorgeous pitches when it counted the most, and I will admit I was filled with admiration for how you handled yourself out there.

That was a credit to your team, the fans, and your October legacy. Well played, sir. Well played.

Now if we can just get Okajima and Papelbon blogging, we can lavish praise on them too.

You did GREAT! I was just re-watching the highlights of Game 2 and... just wow. I admit to getting emotional when you walked off the field. I don't know what'll happen in the off-season but know that RSN loves and respects you. You're a true legend. God bless you, man. And thank you for everything.
