just wondering...still sticking by your statement that aj burnett has the best "stuff" in baseball?

@No doubt, but stuff has never = wins. I think this might be an issue 2-3 years from now if he cannot stay healthy. His arm issues and mechanics lead me to think he'll have trouble making 100 starts over the 5 years of this deal.

First I am a life long Red Sox fan (first game at Fenway 1966 vs. the Baltimore Orioles). Have been fortunate to watch many great players in the last 40 yrs and 2004 was the ultimate. I will tip my hat to Curt for his performance in the Playoffs and World Series in '04 but do not understand how those performances should influence the Red Sox dealing with a new contract in 2007. The bottom line is Curt is a mercenary who was willing to leave Arizona for the right price. He got his money and helped the Sox get their rings, end of story. Pitch well in 2007 and get a new deal......pitch poorly and see you later...don't let the door hit you in the ass on the way out. That is today's sports reality....players move from team to team chasing the $$$$......loyalty has gone the way of the rotary phone........Thanks for the memory Curt it was fun but now concentrate on pitching well or see you later.

Hey Curt,

Know what bugs me? Folks who respond to your blog by saying "shut up & pitch." I agree with what you said to one poster who made that comment..."you don't have to read it." Good answer.

That said, I just wanted to say that I find it very refreshing that someone in your position in relation to the media - especially the feeding frenzy that is the Boston Red Sox media - is willing to blog in this fashion. You tell it like it is, and I really appreciate that. 10-second media clips and 2 minute Q&A's do not tell the whole story - more often than not the snapshots of celebrities that the media chooses to show, actually shows them in the opposite light from what the celebrity intended. It's great that you take the time to clear up those issues.

Also, I know hundreds if not thousands of people have expressed this sentiment to you, but I need to say it too:
Thank you. Thank you for the bloody sock and 2004 and being one of those amazing 25 guys who brought us the championship. I know you didn't do it alone, but I'm pretty sure it wouldn't have happened without you. I'm hoping for another one, but even if that doesn't happen, 2004 was richly satisfying.

Looking forward to reading more of your posts. Blessings to you and your family.

~ Kate :)

P.S. Regarding puppies - I don't recommend yellow labs, unless you, Shonda, and the kids have a LOT of time on your hands. We had one for about 2 months, and it wasn't working out. We gave her to my brother, who has a lot more time, energy, and land than we do. His 2 girls LOVE her. We got her as a companion to our other dog, who is a pound puppy. Remy (yes she's named after Jerry) is 1/4 husky, 3/4 mystery, and she is as sweet as can be. And she is much happier with just us than she was with the lab. Just my $0.02.

Hi Curt,

I am writing because I've been a lifelong fan and wanted to say how great it is that you give fans your time to ask questions and get a chance to talk to you. My wife and I ventured out to Medfield at the Old Potpourri Warehouse about a year and a half ago to meet you at a charity event fundraiser for your neighbor. That was so generous of you guys to donate your time use your celebrity status for a positive reason in the community and raise that much money for such a great cause. It made the event affordable for people who wanted to get the chance to meet you and get an autograph all while going to a very worth cause. Your work with the ALS, SHADE and SMA foundations is commendable and I wish more athletes would follow your lead. My question is can we get an update on how Will Johnson's treatment is going and if any similar fundraisers are planned for the future?

Thanks,
Tony

Great games against the Twins! Your a really good athlete.
You were my favorite player since i was little. I followed you since the Diamondbacks, and now still the Red Soxs. It would be a shame if you left you would be missed my the whole red soxs nation and everyone else.
Do you know if you pitch on the game April 16th. If you are I would like that.

I have the greatest admiration and respect for you Kurt. Your an amazing person and a gifted athlete...... I hope you will stay with the Sox...if you left, it would be a shame and you would be sorely missed.

My father got me into the game and he was at times a very critical individual but I can tell you honestly, he admired you greatly.

Rest assure...by at least some of us...you are greatly appreciated.
